Third-highest daily case total recorded in Coweta on Wednesday

Coweta County confirmed 142 new COVID-19 cases today, per the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Today’s cases were the third-highest daily total Coweta has recorded since the pandemic began. The record-high is 168 set on Sept. 3, 2021 while the 2nd-highest mark of 160 was almost a year ago on Dec. 31, 2020.

Other numbers for Coweta today included 1 death and 6 hospitalizations.

Coweta County’s two-week infection rate continues to rise and was listed at 15.3 percent today, up from 12.8 percent on Tuesday and 11.6 on Monday. The last time the local two-week infection rate was this high came on Sept. 18, also at 15.3 percent.

For December, Coweta has a total of 808 cases for an average of 36.7 per day. It also has 9 COVID-related deaths and 62 hospitalizations. 

Cumulative-wise, Coweta has had 13,847 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, 356 deaths and 936 hospitalizations.

Statewide, Georgia posted 5,731 new COVID-19 cases today, the most since 6,077 on Sept. 21. Other numbers across the state included 35 deaths, 210 hospitalizations and 15 ICU admits.
