Coweta Samaritan Clinic announces addition of Amy Boren and Christy Van Drew

From Special Reports
The Coweta Samaritan Clinic has announced two additions to its staff.
Amy Boren, RN, has been named Nurse Manager and Christy Van Drew has been added as Practice Manager. Both officially came onboard at the Coweta Samaritan Clinic on September 19.
Two valued team members – Ginny Lyles and Peggie Lawson – had announced their respective retirements thus creating the need to add both Boren and Van Drew to the staff.
Lyles and Lawson will retire in December and will allow them to do one-on-one training with the new staff members.
Coweta Samaritan Clinic Founder and Medical Director Kay Crosby shared this, “I feel confident God has brought Amy and Christy to us as part of His plan for the future of our Clinic. With the foundation Peggie and Ginny helped build and their passion for our mission that I know Amy and Christy share, that future is so very bright.”
Boren comes from Piedmont Newnan Hospital, where she has served as a surgical charge nurse for over 30 years.
Helping people comes naturally to Amy.
“Many times, I’ve helped someone who couldn’t afford a wheelchair,” said Amy. “I’ve called doctors I know and asked them to perform services such as cataract surgery for patients who couldn’t afford it. I’m good about figuring ways to get things done and thinking outside the box.”
Amy is married to Jay Boren and they have three children (one in the workforce, one in college, and one who graduates this year). They’re members of Newnan City Church where Amy’s passion is volunteering at the NEST warming shelter in the winter months. In her work at the NEST, Amy welcomes opportunities to use her nursing expertise.
Van Drew is no stranger to the medical community in Newnan.
“I’ve spent half of my life working in a medical setting, starting with my high school job as a receptionist at Newnan Hospital,” Christy explained.
After training as an x-ray technician, Christy worked at Newnan Hospital, Georgia Bone & Joint, and at Piedmont Newnan, before completing her marketing degree. This allowed her to move into medical administration, where she became Practice Manager for oncology physicians at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Her management skills have also been sharpened by the opportunity to serve as Operations Manager for Life of the South Catering during the last year, but healthcare is her passion.
“I couldn’t be happier to be back in Newnan’s medical community,” Christy said. “The Clinic has always been in my mind. I admired what Peggie and Ginny do, and I’m excited to have this opportunity. As Practice Manager, I’ll be able to support the Clinic team by making sure they have what they need and ensuring smooth flow in the daily schedule. I’m most excited about interacting with the patients.”
Christy is married to David Van Drew and they have two children (one in high school and one in middle school). They are members of Central Baptist Church, where Christy volunteers as a Children’s Sunday School and Youth teacher and with their “Feeding our Friends” ministry.
