From Coweta County School System Press Release

All Coweta schools and school events have been cancelled for Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27.

The Coweta County School System has continued to monitor Tropical Storm Helene and how it will affect our county. The National Weather Service currently has our region of Georgia and northward on a tropical storm watch, and currently expects conditions to worsen Thursday as Helene approaches. The NWS has also said impacts from this storm event “could be an unprecedented event for north and central Georgia given the expected track and strength of Helene” including the potential for flooding, high wind gusts and other inclement weather conditions. As of 5 p.m. today, the NWS upgraded our region of Georgia to a Tropical Storm Warning.

Due to these conditions and anticipated impacts, the Coweta County School System is canceling school on Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27. This includes all extracurricular activities and sporting events previously scheduled for Thursday and Friday afternoon and evening.

Editor’s Note: Heritage School and Trinity Christian have both closed school and cancelled extracurricular events on Thursday and Friday.

Schools will notify parents directly of any alternate plans or rescheduling for specific previously-scheduled events affected by this week’s weather.
