First Baby Of The Year

From Special Reports
Born at 11:47 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Kyla Grace Jacks was the first baby to be born at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in 2019. Born 10 days early, she weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 19 inches long at birth.
“It will be special for her to have her birthday on New Year’s every year,” said mom, Summer Jacks.
Laura Houwers, certified Midwife and Nurse Practitioner, Georgia OB/GYN, delivered the newborn. Both mom and baby went home Thursday and are doing well.
“I am so blessed to have a beautiful and healthy baby girl,” Jacks said. “And I am thankful for the great care I received.”
This is the second child for Jacks. She also has a four-year-old son, who is excited to be a big brother. “He isn’t too excited about sharing mommy though,” said Jacks.
As mother of the first baby born at the hospital, Jacks received a gift basket from Piedmont Newnan Hospital’s Poplar Shop and Women’s Services along with a free photo package from Bella Baby Photography.
Piedmont Newnan Hospital delivers about 1,300 babies annually.
