Fourth of July Weather Forecast: Hot with heat index values in upper 90s

A typical Fourth of July forecast is in order today for folks in Coweta County with high temperatures in the 90s.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 92 degrees. The heat index – a measurement of relative humidity with actual air temperature – will reach 97 today.

A 40 percent chance of an afternoon pop-up shower or thunderstorm is possible. It drops to 20 percent tonight.

And on Sunday, a little cooler with a high near 90.

TODAY – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph.

TONIGHT – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Calm wind.
