THE SKINNY – Coweta County has now confirmed 8 deaths in the past 5 days due to COVID-19.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Feb. 5.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 42 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, including 3 deaths and 2 hospitalizations. Friday’s deaths push the total to 8 in the past 5 days. It’s the 8th time Coweta has had 3 deaths in a single day, the last was on Jan. 26.
Case-wise, the county now has been above 20 cases for 39 straight days and in double-digits for 84 consecutive days.
For the month of February, Coweta has posted 195 cases (39.0 per day), 8 deaths and 5 hospitalizations.
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.9 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 11.3 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 7334 cases, 117 deaths (with an additional 8 probable deaths) and 251 hospitalizations since the pandemic began.
On Friday, the age group of 55-64 years old had the most new COVID cases with 10.

GEORGIA CASES
On Friday, Georgia confirmed 3527 new cases of COVID-19 including 98 deaths, 232 hospitalizations and 44 ICU admits. It was the first time after 3 consecutive days that the state had less than 100 deaths.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 13.0 percent.
To date, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 766,604 cases, 13,146 deaths, 51,479 hospitalizations and 8555 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (170 on Jan. 19); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
