Input requested at C.J. Smith Park Public Meeting on May 22

The City of Newnan will host a public meeting regarding the city’s C.J. Smith Park on Wednesday, May 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at C.J. Smith Park.

City of Newnan will provide updates on the park and ask for feedback regarding the current plans. Staff will be available during the meeting for questions.

In addition, vendors will also be on-site during the meeting to provide visual aids for possible upgrades to the park for citizen input. Some possible renovation ideas include skate parks, pump tracks and playground equipment.

About C.J. Smith Park
C.J. Smith Park is a 12-acre active community park located on Farmer Street. The park is divided into two distinct sections separated by a steep wooded bank. The lower half of the park contains the park’s major draw, which is an adult size softball field, that is home to various Coweta County sponsored adult softball leagues in both the spring and fall months. The park contains a paved 27-space parking lot, restrooms, spectator bleachers, and miscellaneous playground equipment. Several picnic tables, as well as grills, are also available for gatherings. The upper half of the park is the home of the Coweta County African American Heritage Museum and Research Center.
