May Trends: Macrame Bags, Car Care & Massage Chairs, Cowhides and Wigs

By Corby Carlin Winters, Public Relations & Marketing, Winters Media & Publishing Inc.
Each month we cover some of the hot trends from health and wellness, fashion and style, business or even tapping into your creative side.
Large straw macrame bags
Large straw bags are always a hot summer accessory to have. You can find some super cool ones at Finley’s Boutiques, located at 7 Jefferson Street in downtown Newnan. They have a twist on these as they have them with a macrame vibe as well. Finley’s feels like walking into a classic old boutique in New York.

Cows just don’t have to graze in your pastures
Looking for a cool trend that can work in just about any home decor? Then you want to check out cowhides.
Knox Furniture in downtown Newnan has several in stock right now (As an aside, if you are looking for a La-Z-Boy recliner, they have the largest selection in the area.) The cowhides come in all kinds of colors and several sizes and are so easy to clean up. You will see them used on floors, upholstered chairs as well as wall hangings. They are durable and beautiful while bringing style to any home or workplace.
Parlor 34 Hair and Kat Eyes use them in their studios and they are the bomb. If you don’t want a real one then you can opt for faux ones too.
Mother’s Day and Graduation
Finding the right gift fills the month of May. It can be loads of fun but also a bit stressful, especially if you are looking for just the right gift.
I wanted to suggest thinking of special gifts that might be out of the norm such as a painting, a personal piece of china, a framed picture of the one you love with words surrounding the photo. Maybe even a framed poem. Check out small shops for some cool goodies, such as Southern Heritage Co.in downtown Newnan, who have super cool guy gadgets like knives and EDC tools for that graduating son. Lee-King Pharmacy next to the Newnan campus of the University of West Georgia is always a sure thing for a perfect gift this time of year. As is Sugars Boutique at Merle Norman Cosmetics off Bullsboro Drive in Newnan, which has a 10% off purchase coupon in The Shopper through Mother’s Day.
Women are Wigging Out Over Wigs
Did you know women in Coweta and Fayette are really into buying and wearing wigs? Who would have thought? Hair extensions have been popular for many years and I remember in the 70s my mom had several cool wigs she would pop on for a fun evening out.
I recently met up with Mary Ellen Hutcheson who said wigs are growing in huge popularity. She is the owner of Sugars Boutique and Merle Norman Cosmetics in Newnan and LaGrange. Think of them as an accessory, just like a new purse or a pair of shoes. Mary Ellen carries top of the line wigs by HairUWear and has 750 in stock. If you want to be a redhead today or go with short hair the next, you can do it in a snap.
Obviously wigs are a blessing if you have thinning or hair loss. It is a blessing for many since the store is so close to Piedmont Hospital and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
