The Skinny – Both Georgia and Coweta County confirmed their lowest daily case totals in over a month on Monday.

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Feb. 8.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Monday, Coweta County confirmed 20 new cases of COVID-19 with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations. It’s the lowest number of cases in a day for Coweta since recording 13 on Dec. 28.

Even with the low total on Monday, the county now has had 20 cases-or-more for 42 straight days and in double-digits for 87 consecutive days.

For the month of February, Coweta has posted 295 cases (36.9 per day), 12 deaths and 7 hospitalizations.

The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 10.5 percent.

Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 7434 cases, 121 deaths (with an additional 8 probable deaths) and 253 hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

Yesterday, the age group of 35-44 year olds had the most new COVID cases with 6.

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 2488 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday including 35 deaths, 86 hospitalizations and 3 ICU admits. The 2488 cases were the fewest in a single day for the state since 1805 on Dec. 6.

Presently, 3421 people (down 35 from Sunday) in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 21.7 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Monday is at 12,249 (up 52) or at 81.3 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2583 (down 5) or 83.0 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use is at 1445 (down 22) or 39.1 percent capacity.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 11.8 percent.

To date, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 775,466 cases, 13,361 deaths, 51,928 hospitalizations and 8601 ICU admits since the pandemic began.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (178 on Feb. 6); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
