Sunday: 25 new cases of COVID-19, 2 hospitalizations

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Aug. 2.

Today, Coweta County posted 25 new cases of COVID-19, including 2 hospitalizations. No deaths were recorded.

It is the 13th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 13 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 319 cases, 5 deaths and 23 hospitalizations.  In the previous 13 days (July 8-20), Coweta had 225 cases, 0 deaths and 8 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1338 cases, 21 deaths and 94 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

As usual on Sundays, Georgia dropped significantly in all COVID-19 categories – 3,165 cases (some 500 less than Saturday), 15 deaths (58 less), 69 hospitalizations (237 less) and 21 ICU admits (40 less).

It was still the 42nd consecutive day Georgia had over 1,000 new cases and 6th straight day over 3,000 cases.

Overall, Georgia has 193,177 cumulative cases, 3840 deaths, 19,064 hospitalizations and 3496 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
