Monday: Coweta has 46 new cases of COVID, 1 death

THE SKINNY – Coweta County added another death on Monday which now makes 11 in the past 7 days.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Jan. 18.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
On Monday, Coweta County confirmed 46 new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death and 0 hospitalizations. Coweta has now seen double-digit cases for a record-66 consecutive days, dating from Nov. 14, and has been above 40 for the last 13 days. Today’s death is the 11th in the past week.
Now 18 days into the month of January, the county has posted 1191 cases for an average of 66.2 per day. There have been 15 deaths and 17 hospitalizations. The 1191 cases have surpassed the total for every month except December (1620).
The age group of 45-54 year-olds had the highest number of COVID cases on Monday with 10.

Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 6464 cases, 93 deaths (with an additional 6 probable deaths) and 232 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 24th among all Georgia counties for most cumulative cases and 31st in deaths.
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.7 percent, and in the last two weeks, is falling at 17.1 percent.
GEORGIA CASES
Georgia confirmed 4385 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday with 63 deaths, 122 hospitalizations and 7 ICU admits. It was the lowest number of cases in day since 4030 on Jan. 4. Still, it’s the 21st consecutive day Georgia has been over 4000 cases.
Presently, 5,552 people in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 33.3 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Monday is at 12,859 or at 84.5 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2758 or 91.1 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use in GA is presently at 1597 or 43.8 percent capacity.
Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 684,763 cases, 11,095 deaths, 46,741 hospitalizations and 7964 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.0 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 17.7 percent.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (157 on Jan. 15); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
