Thursday: Coweta adds 4 COVID deaths for 2nd straight day

Coweta County confirmed 10 new COVID cases including 4 deaths and 2 hospitalizations on Thursday.

It was the 2nd straight day the county has reached the single-day high of 4 deaths and the 8th time overall. The only other time with back-to-back days of 4 deaths occurred Feb. 11-12.

Coweta has now recorded 14 COVID-related deaths in the past 11 days and 29 in the month of March.

Cumulative-wise, Coweta now stands at 8,368 cases, 179 deaths and 307 hospitalizations. Coweta ranks 22nd in COVID cases in Georgia (out of 159 counties) and 19th in deaths.

Statewide, Georgia Confirmed 1185 new COVID cases on Thursday with 79 deaths, 121 hospitalizations and 22 ICU admits. It was the 26th consecutive day the state has been below 2000 cases.

All 4 Patient Census categories rose yesterday. ICU Beds in use increased by 56, now standing at 2446 or 80.7% capacity. In-Patient Hospital Beds in Use rose by 102 to 12,213 or 80.4%. COVID Patients hospitalized increased by 28 to 1241 or 7.9% of all hospital patients. And Ventilators in use increased by 44 to 1051 or 28.5% capacity.

Overall, Georgia has posted 846,745 cumulative cases and 16,336 deaths.
