Sunday: Coweta adds 41 new cases of COVID-19

THE SKINNY – Coweta County extended its streak of 72 consecutive days with 10-or-more cases of COVID-19 by adding 41 on Sunday.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Jan. 24.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
On Sunday, Coweta County confirmed 41 new cases of COVID-19 with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations reported. Today’s cases extends the number of consecutive days to 72 with double-digit cases, dating from Nov. 14, and it’s also 27 straight days with more than 20. It’s the first day in 6 straight that Coweta did not report a death.
In January, the county has posted 1502 cases for an average of 62.6 per day. There have been 24 deaths and 23 hospitalizations. The 1502 cases have surpassed the total for every month except December (1620). Coweta will likely surpass December’s total midweek.
The age group of 45-54 year-olds had the highest number of COVID cases on Sunday with 10.

Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 6775 cases, 102 deaths (with an additional 7 probable deaths) and 238 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 24th among all Georgia counties for most cumulative cases and 29th in deaths.
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 14.7 percent.
GEORGIA CASES
Georgia confirmed 4210 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, including 3 deaths, 115 hospitalizations and 16 ICU admits. It’s the lowest amount of cases in a day since 4030 on Jan. 4. Georgia has now been above 4000 cases for 27 consecutive days, dating from Dec. 29.
Presently, 4959 people in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 30.0 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Sunday is at 12,682 or at 82.7 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2731 or 89.9 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use is at 1595 or 43.4 percent capacity.
Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 718,532 cases, 11,801 deaths, 48,385 hospitalizations and 8199 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.1 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 15.4 percent.
