On September 15, 2023, Cayla Graham proudly joined the ranks of homeowners in Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity’s East Broad Estates development.
A graduate of East Coweta High School, Cayla has called Newnan home for most of her life. Her primary source of motivation is her two daughters, aged 9 and 1, and she couldn’t be happier to own a brand-new home with enough space for her family.
Over the past few months, Cayla has demonstrated her commitment and diligence by working tirelessly to complete the below requirements while juggling the responsibilities of work and raising her children:
• She completed 250 hours of sweat equity by volunteering on the construction of her own home, various other construction projects in the Habitat ReStore and with administrative tasks. Her friends and family contributed to a quarter of these hours.
• She engaged in NCHFH’s homeownership curriculum, which includes eight educational classes designed to prepare her for the responsibilities of homeownership. The classes cover topics such as an introduction to the homeownership program, mortgage and escrow, delinquency and foreclosure prevention, budgeting, credit basics, home safety, insurance, and home maintenance and repair.
Mortgages through NCHFH have terms of 20-30 years, with monthly payments not exceeding 30 percent of a homeowner’s income.
We thank God for providing this opportunity for Cayla and her family, and we thank the volunteers, donors, and community partners that helped make Cayla’s dream of becoming a homeowner a reality.
Congratulations, Cayla! We are so proud of you!
Cayla would like to share the following words from her heart with our community partners, donors, and volunteers:
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me and my girls with this opportunity. Habitat for Humanity has changed my life for the better – I now have a beautiful home and an affordable mortgage. Providing for my girls is my number one priority and now we have a home that we can call ours! The staff at Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity have been nothing short of amazing!!! I was welcomed like family. We have a bond that can’t be broken and a lifelong great relationship. This program helps you to appreciate your home by putting in your sweat equity hours. I was able to help build on my home as well as help out at the ReStore. This journey has been more than amazing, and I am so happy for me and my kids’ future. I want to thank NCHFH, the volunteers, donors, board members, and all who had a part in helping me finish my sweat equity. I am forever grateful and thankful.”
