The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Nov. 21.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Saturday, Coweta County confirmed another 27 new cases of COVID-19 including 1 death and 2 hospitalizations. The death was of a 78-year-old white male with no underlying conditions.

The 27 cases today makes it 5 consecutive days Coweta has been seen 25 cases-or-more. The only other time that has occurred during the pandemic was Aug. 11-15.

The age group of 45-54 year olds in Coweta had the most new cases today with 7, followed by 35-44 year olds with 6 new cases.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Saturday – Carroll added 35, Fayette 27, Spalding 13, Troup 8, Meriwether 3 and Heard 1.

Coweta ended the week with 255 cases – the 3rd-highest total for a week trailing only Aug. 9-15 (265) and Aug. 23-29 (258).

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 3418 cases, 67 deaths and 164 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.7 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 3025 cases on Saturday (up 256 from Friday’s totals), 33 deaths (up 11), 126 hospitalizations (up 7) and 26 ICU admits (up 13). It’s the third time since Aug. 15 that Georgia has been above 3000 cases in a single day.

Presently, there are 1,797 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, down 3 from Friday which makes up 11.8 percent of statewide hospital beds. ICU bed occupancy went down again on Saturday, dropping 14 from yesterday to 2386, which is 81.9 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 402,435 cases, 8624 deaths, 34,023 hospitalizations and 6366 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.1 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
