The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations reported. It ended a streak of 4 days with at least 1 death here in Coweta. So far in October, Coweta has posted an average of 10.1 new cases per day.

To date, Coweta has recorded cumulative totals of 2699 cases, 52 deaths and 136 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 5.1 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Statewide on Wednesday, Georgia confirmed 1492 cases (up 556 from Tuesday’s total), including 30 deaths, 154 hospitalizations and 34 ICU admits. It’s the first time in 4 days Georgia recorded more than 1,000 cases. It’s the 53rd consecutive day the state has been below 3,000 cases in a day. The last time above 3,000 was 3273 on Aug. 15.

Presently, there are 1280 people in Georgia hospitalized, down 7 from Tuesday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 326,142 cases, 7259 deaths, 29,308 hospitalizations and 5439 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 10.0 percent and in the last 2 weeks, it’s 5.9 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
