Saturday: Coweta with 25 new cases, Georgia sets single-day high

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, July 18.

Coweta County added 25 new cases of COVID-19 for the second day in-a-row on Saturday, including 2 hospitalizations. No deaths were reported. It is the fifth consecutive day Coweta has recorded 10-or-more new cases, totaling 91 cases and 6 hospitalizations in that span.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 988 cases, 16 deaths and 71 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (46 on July 3); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today, Georgia set a new single-day high with 4,689 cases which betters the old mark of 4,484 on July 10 by over 200 cases. In addition, 36 deaths, 314 hospitalizations and 38 ICU admits were recorded as well. It is the 27th consecutive day the state has had 1,000-or-more cases in a single day and the 11th time since July 1 with 3,000-or-more cases.

Presently, there are 2,929 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Georgia.

Overall, Georgia has 139,872 cumulative cases, 3168 deaths, 14,961 hospitalizations and 2819 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,689 on July 18); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (46 on July 10).
