This month, The Paper visited with Dr. Nicole Andrews-Kees for its monthly Q&A.

Briefly describe yourself and what you do/did.
I am a small business owner who happens to be a veterinarian.  Married to a wonderful husband and we live on my farm with my horses and dog, Jobe.  I’m known to be kind, considerate and compassionate both in my personal and work life.

Best piece of advice you’ve received.

Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind.  Be led by the dreams in your heart.

If I had it to do over…
Hugged my mom more and met Doug Kees sooner.

You are going on an extended solo trip.  What three albums and three books would you take?
Doug Eleven & Albums, Roots & Boughs, and Prince.
To Kill a Mockingbird, Pride and Prejudice, and Jane Eyre.

Tell us one thing about yourself that few people know.
I was once an English teacher.

You are hosting a dinner party for six.  What five people, living or dead, would you invite and why?
Mom, Doug, Prince, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diane.

Name an as yet unfulfilled dream.
Become royalty.

Professional Equestrian

Your favorite quote and why?
“A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong she is until she’s in hot water.” – Eleanor Roosevelt.
A good reminder that you never know your true strength until pushed into a situation.

Name something that you are extremely glad you did or accomplished.
Dreamed and built my small animal veterinary practice from the ground up.

What advice would you give your younger self just starting out on their own?
Nothing wise ever comes easy.
