The Joint: H.J. Wings & Things

From Staff Reports
Everyone has their “go-to” place to eat. It might be with linen tablecloths and waiters in ties, or where you throw peanuts on the floor and carve your initials in the wooden tables. Whatever and wherever, it’s your “joint.”
There are lots of these places around here, and we’re out to find them all in The Joints column. This month – it’s H.J. Wings & Things.
H.J. Wings & Things
One of our favorite joints was Fat Boys Bar and Grill, located out on Ga. Hwy. 16.
In reviewing it, we said “You will not leave hungry. You will leave happy and don’t be surprised if you say, “that was the best (fill in the blank) I’ve ever had.”
We said “was” because Fat Boys, famous for BBQ, hamburger steaks, country fried steak, fried shrimp and lots more, is no more.
Instead, some franchise bought it.
Now, we do not highlight restaurant chains in this column. But when it’s a couple of local twin brothers who are popping up joints all over the Coweta County area and cooking up some go-to bar food, we made an exception.
They are known for their wings, try the “scorchers” sometime. But it’s the “things” that keep us coming back. Welcome to H.J. Wings & Things. Brothers Keith and Kevin Taylor now have four restaurant locations, including Tyrone, Peachtree City and Senoia.
Their latest is the old Fat Boys spot. Probably the only thing that wasn’t changed was the outside walls, everything else was ripped out and redone. Literally a night and day transformation. And fortunately, they kept one of the old cooks from Fat Boy days.
Great wings, excellent hamburgers and top of the line cheesesteaks – and you know how serious we are about our cheesesteaks.
But other “things” to consider are their shrimp, fish, massive salads, sandwiches, wraps, and … okay, wings again. All the locations are family-friendly, with a casual and fun atmosphere where you’ll feel comfortable at a booth or the bar.
