Heritage School, Trinity Christian and East Coweta lead the pack of Coweta County Schools heading into Week No. 7 of the 2022 prep football season.

Heritage School has reeled off six consecutive victories for a perfect 6-0 record. The Hawks used four receptions from receiver Thomas Scoggins for 137 yards and two TDs in a 41-9 romp over King’s Ridge Christian last Thursday in Alpharetta. Heritage School is open tonight but travels to Perry to face 3-3 Westfield School on Oct. 14.

Trinity Christian is on a four-game win streak of their own and stands at 4-2 on the season. The Lions got a 21-yard field goal from Luke Schwarting early in the fourth quarter to turn back then-No. 7 Starr’s Mill, 3-0, last week in Sharpsburg. Noseguard Cam Matthews led a ferocious Lions defensive effort with 14 tackles, four QB pressures, one forced fumble, a sack and four tackles for losses in the win. Trinity Christian, who jumped from GHSA 1-A Private to 4-A this season, makes the short trek to Fayetteville tonight to face 5-1 Whitewater which is now ranked at No. 7 in Class 4-A.

East Coweta got a much needed off week last Friday after seeing its four-game win streak snapped on Sept. 23 in a 31-24 loss to Lambert. It doesn’t get any easier tonight as the 4-2 Indians travel up Hwy. 27 to tangle with 6-0 Carrollton, which is ranked No. 4 in Class 7-A.

Newnan got back on the winning track last Thursday in Dallas with an impressive 31-14 thumping of East Paulding. The Cougars, 2-4, return to Drake Stadium tonight for Homecoming and will face Alexander (2-4).

Northgate is also coming off an open week and stands at 1-5 on the season. The Vikings last action was on Sept. 23 as Veterans ruined Northgate’s Homecoming with a 21-9 win at Henry Seldon Field. Northgate is at home tonight to face 3-3 McIntosh.

Central Christian, back in GAPPS 8-man football, is now 2-4 on the year.  The Crusaders fell to Praise Academy last Friday in Powder Springs, 32-6. Tonight, Central Christian is at home and will host a 5-1 Sherwood Christian School squad.
