The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Nov. 12.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Thursday, Coweta County confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 along with 2 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. The age group of 45-54 years old had 5 new cases, the most among all groups.

Today’s 12 cases marks the 7th time this month Coweta has been in double-digits for a single day. Coweta is averaging 9.9 cases per day this month, just below October’s rate of 12.4.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 3132 cases, 63 deaths and 157 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.2 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

In Georgia on Thursday, the state confirmed 2496 cases (up 856 from Wednesday’s totals). It’s the highest number of single-day cases since 2565 on Oct. 31 and just the 3rd time since Sept. 19 Georgia has been over 2000. Georgia has now been below 3000 for 89 consecutive days, dating back to Aug. 15.

The state also confirmed 70 deaths on Thursday (up 1 from yesterday), 141 hospitalizations (down 34) and 20 ICU admits (down 13).

Presently, there are 1,662 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 42 from yesterday. That’s the most hospitalized since the weekend of Sept. 5-6 when 1,700 folks were hospitalized with COVID. ICU patients across the state are at 2455 (up 28 from Wednesday) which is 83.8 percent capacity in Georgia.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 380,190 cases, 8403 deaths, 32,947 hospitalizations and 6191 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.7 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
