The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Nov. 22.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 19 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, including 1 hospitalization and 0 deaths. Sunday’s case number breaks a string of 5 consecutive days where the county had 25-or-more. The age groups of 25-34 and 55-64 year olds in Coweta had the most new cases yesterday with 4.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Sunday – Carroll added 34 cases (1 death), Fayette 25, Spalding 8 (1 death), Troup 5, Heard 3 and Meriwether 1.

For the month of November, Coweta has posted 424 cases for a daily rate of 19.3. That is the county’s 3rd-highest monthly total since the pandemic began, trailing only August with 953 cases (30.7 daily rate) and July with 629 (20.3).

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3437 cases, 67 deaths and 165 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.8 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 1976 cases on Sunday, which broke a string of 5 days above 2500 cases. Also on Sunday, the state recorded 3 deaths, 34 hospitalizations and 7 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1,882 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 85 from Saturday and is 12.8 percent of statewide patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 11,644 or 77.6 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy went down again on Sunday, dropping 2 from Saturday to 2384, which is 81.6 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 404,411 cases, 8627 deaths, 34,057 hospitalizations and 6373 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 99,756, followed by 30-39 year olds with 65,855.

The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.0 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
