Weather: Coweta’s extended forecast lists rain and cooler temperatures

What a difference a week makes when it comes to weather here in Coweta County.

After a week of warm and dry, including a high of 80 degrees recorded yesterday at the Newnan-Coweta Airport, here comes rain and much cooler temperatures into the area.

The changeover begins early this evening as a fast-moving cold front pushes through around 6 p.m. and brings a 60 percent rain chance, including possible thunderstorms. Today’s high will reach 76 degrees then after the cold front passes, the overnight low will drop to 46. 

Another wave of rain moves in late Tuesday with the high of only 61 and a rain chance of 40 percent during the day, increasing to 70 percent that night. 

More rain continues on Wednesday with a high of 64 and rain chances listed at 80 percent during the day, 70 percent at night.  

The trend rolls on into Thursday and Friday. Thursday’s rain chance is at 30 percent but goes up to 70 percent on Friday. Highs will be in the upper 60s both days.

The sunshine returns in earnest on Saturday, but highs will be only 41 and the overnight low is forecast at 26.

MONDAY –   A slight chance of showers between 1pm and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 76. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

MONDAY NIGHT –   Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

TUESDAY –   A slight chance of showers between noon and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

TUESDAY NIGHT –   Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 50. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 70%

WEDNESDAY –  Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 64. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

THURSDAY –   A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67.

FRIDAY –   Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

SATURDAY –   Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.
