Weather: Rain moves in Tuesday night, cooler temperatures to return

A cold front will make its way through Coweta County on Tuesday evening bringing rain, wind and cooler temperatures says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Expect mostly sunny skies today and Tuesday with a high of 66 degrees and 70 degrees, respectively, before the front moves through late Tuesday evening. Rain chances increase to 80 percent that night and will remain at 80 percent on Wednesday as the front moves through the area. Winds will be from the Southeast at 5-10 on Tuesday, switching to the Northwest and gusting to 15 mph on Wednesday.

The cooler temperatures arrive late Wednesday with an overnight low of 31. The high on Thursday will be 52 with an overnight low of 33. Friday’s high is expected to be 57.

MONDAY – Sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the morning.

MONDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 42. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph.

TUESDAY – A 10 percent chance of showers after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT – Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Low around 56. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

WEDNESDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. High near 68. South wind around 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

THURSDAY – Sunny, with a high near 52.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

SATURDAY – Partly sunny, with a high near 65.
