Weather: Dry, cool start to week; rain moves in Thursday

A cool, mostly dry start to the first work week of 2021 awaits Coweta County residents today, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the upper 50s. Overnight lows in the 30s.

On Thursday, a 50 percent rain chance enters the forecast under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 51. Showers likely overnight Thursday and into early Friday before clearing begins.

Below is the day-by-day forecast (subject to change) from the NWS:

MONDAY – Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 58. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

MONDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

TUESDAY – Sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Calm wind.

THURSDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51.

FRIDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50.
