Wednesday: Coweta adds 12 cases of COVID-19, plus 1 death, 1 hospitalization

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been posted by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Oct. 21 was issued overnight due to a technical issue delay.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of a 78-year-old white female with underlying conditions. Wednesday’s death pushes Coweta’s total for the month of October to 15.

Among the 12 cases on Wednesday, the age group of 55-64 year-olds had the most new cases with 4.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 2881 cases, 62 deaths and 143 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.0 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.1 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Statewide on Wednesday, Georgia confirmed 1312 cases (up 184 from Tuesday’s totals), 30 deaths, 135 hospitalizations and 33 ICU admits. It’s the 32nd consecutive day Georgia has been below 2,000 cases in a single day, the 67th straight day below 3,000.

Presently, there are 1,346 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 32 from yesterday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 343,750 cases, 7704 deaths, 30,676 hospitalizations and 5734 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.6 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.2 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
