The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Oct. 22.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday with 1 death and 0 hospitalizations. The death was of a 59-year-old white female with underlying conditions. Thursday’s death pushes Coweta’s total for the month of October to 16.

Among the 12 cases today, the age group of 55-64 year-olds had the most new cases with 4 including 1 death.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 2893 cases, 63 deaths and 143 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.0 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 5.4 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Across the state on Thursday, Georgia confirmed 1785 cases (up 473 from Wednesday’s totals) – which is the most in a single day since 2284 back on Aug. 19. Also Thursday, the state had 25 deaths, 153 hospitalizations and 40 ICYU admits. It’s the 33rd consecutive day Georgia has been below 2,000 cases in a single day, the 68th straight day below 3,000.

Presently, there are 1,351 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 5 from yesterday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 345,535 cases, 7729 deaths, 30,829 hospitalizations and 5774 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.6 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.3 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
