Another busy holiday weekend as far as events go with over 40 “Things To Do” on the calendar in-and-around Coweta County.

Here are just some of the highlights for the three-day weekend.

On Friday, it’s Cooking with Herbs at the Powell Branch Library, Campfire Building at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, “A Christmas Carol” presented by ECHOStage, Cornerstone United Methodist Church hosts its drive-thru Nativity scenes and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the 7th Annual Festival of the Nativity in Peachtree City.

Saturday, it’s the Newnan Christmas Parade rolling into downtown, the Great Gingerbread Build at Newnan-Coweta Habitat ReStore, a Christmas Party hosted by ChildrenConnect, author Rosalind Bunn at Southern Fried Books, Pancakes with Santa at Willis Road Elementary, Gingerlily Christmas event in downtown Sharpsburg, Wood Ornament building and Hot Chocolate and Letters to Santa at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, the Coweta Veterans Club host their annual Christmas party, the HELP/Spay Clinic has its low-cost Vaccine Day, Dog Adoptions at PetSmart in Peachtree City and Cat Adoptions at PetCo also in Peachtree City.

And on Sunday, Abide Brewing Company has Artists & Makers Pop-Up Market Day, First Baptist Church of Newnan offers First Night, and The Singing Tree is at East Newnan Baptist Church.

On stage, the Legacy Theatre has “Sanders Family Christmas,” Southside Theatre Guild has “Tuna Christmas,” the Serenbe Playhouse will have “Narnia,” the Wadsworth Auditorium has “The Grinch,” and ECHOStage is home to “A Christmas Carol.”

On the music scene, Kris Youmans writes there are plenty of local venues – such as The Alamo, The Cellar/The Bays, Grazing Here, The Brickhouse, and The Mad Mexican –  with live music acts on Friday and Saturday. In fact, the Mad Mexican is hosting its 6-Year Anniversary Party right after the Christmas Parade at 8 p.m. with band Leonard Washington.

Weather-wise, the weekend will not be a total washout. The National Weather Service says expect an 80 percent rain chance all day Friday and Friday night, with clearing beginning Saturday. The high Friday will be 46 degrees and Saturday will be 56. The best weather day of the weekend will be Sunday with sunny skies and a high near 59.

Weather for the Newnan Christmas Parade … partly cloudy, temperature around 49 degrees at 6 p.m. Saturday with only about a 10 percent chance of a passing shower.

Below is the day-to-day listing of events in the area. To have your event published, please email [email protected].
