From Staff Reports

As Thanksgiving fast approaches, this weekend’s calendar of events here in the Coweta County area has plenty of family-friendly happenings to consider.

On Friday, the Newnan Carnegie Library offers Exercise is Medicine and a neat Cookies & Canvas painting workshop. There’s the Santa Ultimate Adventure and Tree Trimming Party at the Grantville Branch Library. Holiday carriage rides begin in downtown LaGrange and the annual Fantasy in Lights show at Callaway Gardens continues in its second week as the eight-million light show runs through Jan. 4. In football, two local high school teams – East Coweta and The Heritage School – remain in the state playoffs and face second-round contests.

On Saturday, the Chattahoochee Bend State Park hosts its weekly Scavenger Hunt, plus a Thanksgiving Craft Class working with pine cones. The 4th Annual Turkey Trot hosted by the Coweta County Accountability Courts is at the Fairgrounds. The Town of Brooks has its Holiday Market, an Art Walk and Sip ‘N’ Shop takes place in Hogansville, Ashley Park is hosting Lights up, a Holiday Bake Sale is on tap at Loblolly Pine Co. Antiques & Home Decor, and the Senoia Area Historical Society is set for its annual Auction.

And finally on Sunday, Monarch House Assisted Living will have “An Afternoon with an Author or Two” as Chellie Phillips and Toby Nix talk about their books.

On the stage, four shows (1 Friday, 2 Saturday and 1 Sunday) are scheduled for “Sanders Family Christmas” at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone.

And Kris Youmans lists the musical acts – live and local – here in the Coweta County area for the weekend as seven local venues have a live music act on Friday and five on Saturday.

For more events, check our Facebook page by clicking: https://www.facebook.com/pg/wintersmedia/events/.

Weather-wise, a cold front will be moving through the area bringing clouds and a rain chance today, overnight and all day Saturday. Highs on Friday and Saturday will be in the mid-60s with rain chances going from 20 percent on Friday to 80 percent on Saturday. Then the front moves through and Sunday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 56.

Below is the day-to-day listing of events in the area. To have your event published, please email [email protected].
