Weekend Weather: After rainy start, sunny skies return Saturday

Coweta County folks can expect a sunny and warm Independence Day weekend, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

A cold front with rain is passing through Coweta and Georgia today, but behind it will be a bit less humid and sunny. The highs will be 84 degrees on Saturday, 88 on Sunday and 91 on Monday. Overnight lows will be in the 60s.

After today, the next rain chance enters the extended forecast on Tuesday.

FRIDAY – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between noon and 1pm. High near 81. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

SATURDAY – Sunny, with a high near 84. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 61. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

JULY 4TH – Sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph.

MONDAY – Sunny, with a high near 91.
