Weekend Weather in Coweta: Continued warm, chance of afternoon showers

The summer-like pattern from this week will continue over the weekend here in Coweta County, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Look for high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s and a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 4 p.m. each day. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

On Friday, scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and into tonight as high temperatures reach 85 degrees. Lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds are possible with any of these storms that form. Rain chances are at  60 percent.

On Saturday, rain chances drop to 30 percent with a high of 88 degrees and on Sunday, rain chances are at 20 percent with the high near 86.

Below is  the day-by-day forecast (subject to change) from the NWS:

FRIDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

SATURDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

SATURDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind around 5 mph.

SUNDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. East wind around 5 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
