Now that spring is here and this weekend’s high temperatures are expected to be near 80 degrees, it’s time to get out-and-about and find some things to do.
Below are some fun, educational and family-friendly events scheduled for Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday here in Coweta County.
FRIDAY, MARCH 24
Spring Art Walk
5 to 9 p.m. downtown Newnan • mainstreetnewnan.com
A celebration of local art hosted by Main Street Newnan around the Courthouse Square. Businesses extend their hours to host store-front exhibits and demonstrations curated by a variety of Newnan’s finest artists. Visitors can expect to stroll through over 25 locations and see the work of multiple artists with a wide variety of art styles and mediums, including: oil on canvas, engraving, pottery, photography, jewelry-making, fiber arts, performing arts and acrylics.
SATURDAY, MARCH 25

Locally sourced farmers market. Every Saturday.
Sweep the Hooch
9 a.m. to Noon at CJ Smith Park, 92 Farmer Street, Newnan
Join Keep Newnan Beautiful, Newnan Utilities, and Chattahoochee River Keepers. Registration is required for participation. CCF to mark Tornado Anniversary with Day of Service
9 a.m. at Bridging the Gap and RiverLife
Coweta Community Foundation is preparing to commemorate the anniversary of the March 26 tornado by declaring Saturday, March 25, 2023, a Community Day of Service. Service opportunities will be available with two of the Foundation’s community partners, Bridging the Gap and RiverLife. At Bridging the Gap, volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. to move inventory and shelves and lay down plywood flooring to improve their warehouse facility. Volunteers may register by going to https://www.btgcommunity.org/ or https://www.btgcommunity.org/how-you-can-help/volunteer/. Volunteers will register through the Hands on Atlanta website. The RiverLife project will begin at 9 a.m. and will include debris removal and other clean-up endeavors. Volunteers may register at the RiverLife website, http://riverlife.org/. There will also be a commemorative tree planting at the Hope Global Duplex on the corner of Pinson Street and Savannah Street in the heart of the Chalk Level community. This event will begin at 10 am.
Motorcycle Ride Fundraiser
Begins 9:30 a.m.; Kickstands up at 11 a.m. 2355 Highway 29, Newnan.
Family Patterns Matter is partnering with Faith Riders for a great event … They will host a motorcycle ride at Madras Park where there will be food, great raffle items, music, vendors and family fun. Pre-register online and get a t-shirt. $20 bike and $5 passenger. Family Patterns Matter works with marginalized youth to bring art and music therapies, journaling, life and social skills to help plan their future after high school graduation. Through their programs they provide resources that bring change and success. They believe all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. Youth, through these programs, are defined by their potential not their circumstances. Family Movie Night, Evening in the Park
5-9 p.m., 329 Griffin Street, Grantville
Live music from local artists. Hope you have a sweet tooth because we are having a Cake Walk with some delicious baked goods. Wanna Face painting?!! Cool! because we are doing Free face paintings. Come on out and spend the Entire evening with us! Play at the park, Bring the skate boards and skate at our skate park or Play some corn hole with us. Movie under the stars. We are going to watch “The Never Ending Story.”And for your dinner purchases, we will have Christo’s Pizza and Red’s Grub Shack food trucks on site! Girls Scout will be selling Cookies.
SUNDAY, MARCH 26
Geocaching for Beginners at Chattahoochee Bend
10 to 11:30 a.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bobwhite Way, Newnan.
Come learn how to geocache and see what we find. We will go over the basics and learn some tips and tricks. Please download the Geocaching App from app store or www.geocaching.com.
