From Staff Reports

With the holidays fast approaching, several holiday events appear each weekend on the local calendar. And this weekend is no exception.

Tonight, Main Street Newnan kicks off its Holiday calendar hosting its annual Sip and See event involving over 25 downtown Newnan businesses. The Newnan Carnegie Library holds its Sip and Read during the Sip and See affair. Senoia’s Alive After 5 is also set for tonight with holiday shopping as its priority. And there’s the Coweta Christmas at the Fairgrounds and Holiday Bazaar at Southern Arc Dance Studio, both on Saturday.

Also tonight, it’s state playoff time for high school football. East Coweta and Trinity Christian host GHSA first-round games, Newnan travels for its GHSA first-rounder and The Heritage School received a bye for first-round play in GISA.

On Saturday, the Summit YMCA is hosting Sweat Like A Vet – a community workout, there’s a ribbon cutting for the new Mountain Bike and Hiking trails connected to the Linc, the last Meet The Turtles Day of the year takes place at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park, Peachtree City has an Outdoor Movie Night set for Drake Field, and you can sharpen your driving skills (and perhaps reduce your insurance payment) with the AARP Smart Driving Course at the Powell Branch Library.

On Sunday, the Artists and Makers Pop-Up Market takes place at Abide Brewing Company, there’s a Kate’s Club Connects meeting at the Odyssey School and the sold-out Backpack Buddies Silent Auction Dinner at the historic Newnan Train Depot.

The Heritage School hosts “Be More Chill, The Musical” on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

And music-wise, our Kris Youmans has you covered with the local venue music scene all three days.

For more events, check our Facebook page by clicking: https://www.facebook.com/pg/wintersmedia/events/.

Weather-wise, expect a 70 percent rain chance on Friday with it tapering to only 30 percent later in the evening. Sunny skies return with highs near 60 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Below is the day-to-day listing of events in the area. To have your event published, please email [email protected].
