The summer beat goes on here in Coweta County as another weekend of events, plays and live music are on tap this weekend.

On Friday, Exercise is Medicine is at Newnan Carnegie Library, Free Ice Cream at Monarch House Assisted Living, a Held Over July 4th Weekend Sale at E. Crumpton Furniture plus a full slate of plays “Mama Won’t Fly”, “The True Story of Pocahontas,” “Matilda The Musical,” and “Hair: The American Tribal Love Rock Musical” and local music take the stage later in the day and at night.

On Saturday, there’s a pair of Farmers Markets (Newnan and LaGrange), events at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park, a Cruise-In at Junction Lanes, free Kids and Pros football camp for kids 7-13 and parents fill the calendar.

And Sunday, more plays and don’t forget about riding the free Newnan Trolley between downtown and Ashley Park.

Weather-wise, look for a typical summer pattern today with warm and muggy conditions as heat index values reach 97 degrees. A chance of showers or thunderstorms each day of the weekend with highest chance of 60 percent on Saturday. Highs on Saturday will be near 86 and Sunday 83 with mostly cloudy skies.

Newnan Trolley Service
This free service is offered to take riders from downtown Newnan to Ashley Park. Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pickup locations at City Hall, the Governor Ellis Arnall Parking Lot on Madison Street, and Ashley Park at Dillard’s (West Entrance) and Regal Cinemas. The first pickup is at 1 p.m. at City Hall with the last full route starting at 7 p.m.

Ice Cream Cone Fridays
At Monarch House Assisted Living. Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? Every Friday in July Monarch House wants to help you celebrate by stopping by for a free ice cream cone. Strange LaGrange: Ghosts, Legends, & Spirited History – A Walking Tour
Join Troup County Historical Society Docent and Southern Spirit Guide, Lewis Powell, for a ghostly tour of downtown LaGrange to hear about the spirited history of Troup County and those who call it home. Tours will depart from the Legacy Museum on Main, rain or shine, and move through the downtown area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle, and an umbrella if the weather calls for rain!

This event is comprised of former NFL players, the Kids & Pros staff, led by USA Master Football Trainer Buddy Curry, integrate Heads Up Tackling safety, position fundamentals, and character-based lessons into a 1-day clinic for athletes ages to 7-13. Night Market Peachtree City is a monthly market open to the public and features music, entertainment, food and artists. The July 13 event has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather until July 20.The monthly event is held at Drake Field and intended for participants 21 and older and is an open container event. Golf cart commuting is recommended.
