Coweta Orientation begins Aug. 4; 1st Day of School set for Aug. 5
From Coweta County Schools Press Release
Coweta County Schools will begin the 2021-22 school year on Thursday, August 5.
Parents and students will be able to visit schools and meet teachers for Orientation on Wednesday, August 4, before the start of the new school year. School Orientation will be held at separate times for Coweta’s middle and elementary on August 4:
• Middle Schools: 10 a.m. to Noon (all middle schools) – 6th grade orientation will be held at most middle schools from 10-11 a.m. that day, and 7-8th grade orientations will be held from 11 a.m.-Noon.
• Elementary Schools: Noon to 2 p.m. (all elementary schools)
Orientation provides parents and students an opportunity to find their classrooms and meet their teachers before the start of school. Teachers will not be available for formal conferences during Orientation.
High schools will hold various back-to-school events leading up to their August 5 start. Parents should check school messages and websites for event times. Newnan High School will hold separate orientation events for new 9th graders – who will temporarily be located at the Central Educational Center as NHS campus renovations continue – and 11th-12th graders, who will be located at the LaGrange Street main campus.
Many schools will hold additional back-to-school functions beyond the August 4 orientation times. School websites, linked at www.cowetaschools.net, will include updated information for these and other school-specific activities in the new year.
Representatives from the school system’s transportation department will be available at all schools during the August 4 Orientation, and on the first day of school on August 5, to provide information about bus schedules. School bus routes for the new school year will also be posted on the school system’s website before the start of school.
Parents who wish to enroll their elementary-age children in the school system’s tuition-based After School Program will also be able to do so on August 3 and 4 at their child’s school. Representatives will be available between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each elementary school.
Parents who need to register their children for school can do so through the school system’s Central Registration Center. Parents whose children are not yet registered are urged to do so as early as possible, by going to the online registration site, or by contacting the center at [email protected]. The office may also be called at 770-254-5551.
