Thursday: Coweta posts 50 new COVID-19 cases

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Aug. 20.
Today, Coweta County confirmed 50 new cases of COVID-19 with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. The 50 cases were the most since the county had 62 on Aug. 15.
So far in August, Coweta has recorded 629 cases – the same amount for the entire month of July – with a daily rate of 31.45 new cases per day. It’s the 31st consecutive day that Coweta has registered double-digit cases.
Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1925 cases, 26 deaths and 107 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Across the state, Georgia had 2759 cases, 55 deaths, 216 hospitalizations and 42 ICU admits on Thursday. It’s the 5th straight day Georgia has seen less than 3,000 cases. The last 5-day span below 3,000 cases came June 27 to July 1.
Presently, there are 2506 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 67 from Wednesday.
Regarding hospitalizations … Among Critical Care Beds in Georgia, 86 percent are in use (14 percent available). Among General Inpatient Beds in Georgia, 83 percent are in use (17 percent available). Among Total Emergency Rooms in Georgia, 50 percent are in use (50 percent available). The total of Adult Ventilators in Georgia is 2,883. Presently, 1,179 (41 percent) are in use and 1,704 (59 percent) are available.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 246,741 cumulative cases, 4904 deaths, 22,880 hospitalizations and 4185 ICU admits.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
