Kids Castle and Splash Pad Now Open at Newnan Utilities Carl Miller Park

From Newnan Utilities Press Release
Following the complete renovation of Kids Castle Park and the year-long pandemic closing of the splash pad, Newnan Utilities is inviting kids young and old to join us at Carl Miller Park for a re-opening celebration, Friday, June 4 through Friday, June 11.
To commemorate this exciting time, Newnan Utilities will be handing out to children who visit the park refillable NU Recycles water bottles and coupons for free frozen treats at Whit’s Frozen Custard, while supplies last.
Over the past several months, Kids Castle underwent a top to bottom remodel, complete with all-new attractions and equipment constructed from environmentally friendly materials, that are not only fun, but more easily ADA accessible for all of our friends to enjoy. The renovation includes a custom-designed outdoor play space that reflects children’s imaginations and is designed to engage families and fun for all. The new recycled rubber surfacing adds another level of safety.
“We’re so excited about the transformation of Kids Castle,” said Dennis McEntire, general manager of Newnan Utilities. “That portion of Carl Miller Park was originally designed by Leathers Playgrounds in the late 1990’s and constructed by the hands of community volunteers. It was truly a community effort that brought it to life, and thousands of children have enjoyed it and created memories there for over 20 years. We were lucky enough to be able to bring Leathers back to reimagine the park for today’s kids while maintaining the castle spirit that makes it so unique.”
During the COVID pandemic, the park’s splash pad was closed to follow guidelines set forth by the CDC. We are pleased that we were able to re-open it, just in time for the 2021 summer break.
Carl Miller Park and all of the attractions within it are open daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
