For those wanting to try a different kind of combo meal, you might want to visit L.A. Now since we focus on local joints, we’re not talking about Los Angeles, but rather Lower Alabama, and Wiregrass in particular.

Welcome to The Half Shell, where Apalachicola oysters and hot dogs rule. Like we said, a different take on “combo meal.” You can get your dawg any old way, from Chicago to New York to Tex Mex to build your own. The buns are steamed and split down the middle, just how we like em. You can pretty much put anything on your oysters as well, or just eat them raw.

You sit at a table or pony up to the bar and take a swivel stool. Also try out their crawfish and barbeque, which ranks right up there with some other joints. They have everyday specials and free Texas Hold’em on Tuesday and Saturday nights.
