Monday: Coweta adds 10 new cases, 2 deaths

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Sept. 14.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 with 2 deaths and no hospitalizations. The deaths were of an 84-year-old white male with underlying conditions and of a 54-year-old white male with no underlying conditions. It’s the 3rd consecutive day Coweta has recorded at least 1 death. In September, the county has had 14 deaths due to COVID-19, doubling the previous high of 7 in August.

Monday’s 10 cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2412, up from Sunday’s sum of 2402. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.8 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 40 deaths and 113 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Across Georgia on Monday, there were 1023 cases which was almost 400 less than Sunday’s total. Other Monday numbers included 20 deaths, 25 hospitalizations and 3 ICU admits. Georgia has gone 30 consecutive days below 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 1536 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 17 from Sunday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 295,337 cases, 6353 deaths, 26,394 hospitalizations and 4830 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.3 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
