Tuesday: Coweta reports 18 COVID cases, 1 death, 1 hospitalization

THE SKINNY – Coweta County’s string of 42 consecutive days with 20-or-more cases ended Tuesday.

COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, including 1 death and 1 hospitalization.
It’s the lowest number of cases in a day for Coweta since recording 13 on Dec. 28 and ends a streak of 42 straight days of 20-or-more. Coweta still has been in double-digit cases for 88 consecutive days, dating from Nov. 14.
Tuesday’s death was the county’s 20th in the past 15 days.
For the month of February, Coweta has posted 313 cases (34.7 per day), 13 deaths and 8 hospitalizations.
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.8 percent, and in the last two weeks continues to fall at 10.0 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 7452 cases, 122 deaths (with an additional 8 probable deaths) and 254 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 24th in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases and 28th in deaths due to COVID.
Yesterday, the age group of 45-54 year olds had the most new COVID cases with 5.

GEORGIA CASES
On Tuesday, Georgia confirmed 2583 new cases of COVID-19 including 120 deaths, 334 hospitalizations and 50 ICU admits. The 2583 cases follow Monday’s total of 2488, making it only the 2nd time since late November that Georgia had back-to-back days below 3000 cases.
Tuesday’s 120 deaths is the 26th time Georgia has had 100-or-more in a day.
Presently, 3375 people (down 46 from Monday) in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 21.3 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Tuesday is at 12,701 (up 400) or at 83.6 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2614 (up 31) or 84.0 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use is at 1422 (down 23) or 39.6 percent capacity.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 11.5 percent.
To date, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 778,049 cases, 13,481 deaths, 52,262 hospitalizations and 8651 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (178 on Feb. 6); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
