Monday: Coweta adds 19 new COVID cases, 1 hospitalization

THE SKINNY – Coweta County case numbers have dropped to an average of 29.9 per day, drastically lower than January’s 60.2 daily rate.
The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Feb. 22. Below is data from the Georgia DPH on Coweta County, neighboring counties and the state of Georgia.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases on Monday with 0 deaths and 1 hospitalization. It’s the 3rd time in the past week Coweta has been below 20 cases in a single day (last time that happened was Nov. 23-29) which has helped February’s daily average drop to 29.9 (lowest since 21.3 in November).
Monday’s 19 cases did extend Coweta’s streak of double-digits to 101 days, dating from Nov. 14.
In the past 7 days, Coweta has logged 177 COVID cases (25.3 per day), 10 deaths and 11 hospitalizations.
For the month of February, Coweta has posted 658 cases (29.9 per day), 34 deaths and 28 hospitalizations. February’s case numbers are significantly lower than January’s record-highs of 1866 cases and 60.2 daily rate.
The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.8 percent, and in the last two weeks is sitting at 9.7 percent.
Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 7797 cases, 143 deaths (with an additional 12 probable deaths) and 270 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta ranks 24th in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases and 23rd in deaths due to COVID.
The age group of 45-54 year olds had the most new COVID cases on Monday with 7.

GEORGIA CASES
On Monday, Georgia confirmed 1307 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest since 981 on Nov. 16, and follows 1463 on Sunday. Other numbers on Monday included 56 deaths, 130 hospitalizations and 4 ICU admits.
Three patient census number categories rose slightly on Monday after dropping over the weekend. Presently, 2316 people (down 37 from Sunday) in Georgia are hospitalized with COVID, which is 15.1 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state on Monday is at 11,962 (up 43) or at 78.7 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is at 2473 (up 8) or 80.7 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use is at 1270 (up 9) or 34.0 percent capacity.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 11.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 8.7 percent.
To date, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 806,119 cases, 14,689 deaths, 54,883 hospitalizations and 8931 ICU admits since the pandemic began.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (184 on Feb. 12); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
