The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Tuesday’s report with 1 death and 0 hospitalizations. The death was of a 69-year-old white male with underlying conditions. It’s the 16th death in Coweta due to COVID-19 this month, bettering the previous monthly high of 7 deaths in August.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Across the state, Georgia confirmed only 882 cases on Tuesday which is the lowest total for a single day since 608 on Sept. 7. Other Tuesday totals included 73 deaths, 96 hospitalizations and 21 ICU admits. It’s the 38th consecutive day below 3,000 (last day was Aug. 15 with 3273).

Presently, there are 1406 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 15 from Monday.

Overall, Georgia now has cumulative totals of 308,221 cases, 6677 deaths, 27,490 hospitalizations and 5026 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests remains at 10.3 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
