Monday: Coweta adds 25 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Aug. 17.
Coweta County confirmed 25 new cases of COVID-19 today, with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. So far in August, Coweta is averaging 29.2 cases per day. Today’s 25 cases mark the 28th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit cases.
Locally, the biggest gain in confirmed cases has been at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home here in Newnan. Since Friday’s Long-Term Care Facility Report, Avalon has confirmed 12 new resident cases and 1 staff case.
Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1793 cases, 26 deaths and 106 hospitalizations.
Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Statewide today, all numbers were down after coming off a weekend. Georgia had 1,831 cases after posting 1,862 on Sunday. That’s the first time since June 26-27 that Georgia has had two consecutive days of cases below 2,000. Other numbers today … 25 deaths, 46 hospitalizations and 11 ICU admits.
Presently, there are 2626 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of 23 from Sunday.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 238,861 cumulative cases, 4727 deaths, 22,133 hospitalizations and 4061 ICU admits.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
