The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Nov. 23.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. It’s the 9th consecutive day that Coweta has been in double-digits for cases. Today, the age group of 25-34 year olds had the most new cases in the county with 5.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Monday – Carroll added 26 cases, Spalding 12, Fayette 5, Troup 1, Heard 1 and Meriwether 0.

For the month of November, Coweta has posted 441 cases for a daily rate of 19.2. There have been 4 deaths and 13 hospitalizations. This month is the 3rd-highest in cases for Coweta since the pandemic began, trailing August with 953 and July with 629.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3454 cases, 67 deaths and 165 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.1 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

On Monday, Georgia confirmed 1809 cases (down 167 from Sunday) with 17 deaths, 26 hospitalizations and 4 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1,907 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 25 from Sunday which makes up 12.9 percent of statewide patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 11,667 or at 77.8 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy went up on Monday, increasing by 172 from yesterday to 2556, which is 87.3 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 406,220 cases, 8644 deaths, 34,083 hospitalizations and 6377 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 100,142, followed by 30-39 year olds with 66,142.

The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.8 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
