Monday: Coweta reports 37 new cases of COVID

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Dec. 14.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Monday, Coweta County confirmed 37 new cases of COVID-19 with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations reported. It’s the 31st consecutive day the county has reached double-digits in cases. In addition, it is the 6th straight day Coweta has been above 30 cases which is the county’s longest stretch since the pandemic began.

For the month of December, the county has posted 549 cases for an average of 39.2 per day with 4 deaths and 11 hospitalizations. The 39.2 daily rate is ahead of the high mark for a month which was 30.7 in August when Coweta had 953 cases.

The age group of 15-24 year olds had 22 new cases confirmed on Monday, the highest of any group.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 4202 cases, 72 deaths and 188 hospitalizations.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 8.4 percent, and in the last two weeks, is presently at 11.5 percent.

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 3296 cases on Monday, which was down 1014 from Sunday’s totals. Other Monday numbers included 13 deaths, 100 hospitalizations and 5 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 2962 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 19.1 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 15,532 or at 102.7 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2476 or 84.4 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use in GA is presently at 879 or 30.8 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 479,340 cases, 9218 deaths, 37,737 hospitalizations and 6859 ICU admits.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 9.5 percent, and in the last two weeks, it stands at 12.5 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (6062 on Dec. 10); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
