The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Aug.8.

Coweta County confirmed 20 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and 2 hospitalizations. This is the 19th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit new cases. In those 19 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 466 cases, 6 deaths and 27 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1485 cases, 22 deaths and 98 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today in Georgia, there were 4,423 new cases, 69 deaths, 274 hospitalizations and 39 ICU admits. The 4,423 cases mark the 33rd consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 213,427 cumulative cases, 4186 deaths, 20,556 hospitalizations and 3739 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
