Monday: Coweta reports 46 new cases, 1 hospitalization

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Dec. 21.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 46 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday with 1 hospitalization and 0 deaths. It follows a weekend where the county had 136 new cases, including a record-high 97 on Sunday.
Coweta has now been above 30 cases for 13 straight days and has posted double-digit cases for 38 consecutive days, just 3 days shy of tying the county’s longest streak of 41 during the summer. Coweta’s 46 cases today pushed the monthly total to 963, breaking the previous high for a month of 953 recorded in August.
In the past 24 hours, the age groups of 15-24 and 45-54 year olds each had 8 new cases of COVID, the highest of any group.

As mentioned above, Coweta has 963 cases or 45.9 per day with 4 deaths and 21 hospitalizations in the month of December. The 45.9 per day average will likely also set a new high with 10 days left in the month. The previous daily rate average record was 30.7 in August.
To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 4616 cases, 72 deaths (with an additional 5 probable deaths) and 198 hospitalizations. Coweta ranks 24th among all Georgia counties for most cumulative cases.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 8.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 13.7 percent.
GEORGIA CASES
On Monday, Georgia confirmed 3111 new cases of COVID with 16 deaths, 90 hospitalizations and 5 ICU admits. It follows up a weekend where the state had reported 9323 cases, including the 4th-highest mark of 5087 on Sunday.
Presently, there are 3532 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 22.5 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,202 or at 81.1 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2552 or 86.7 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use in GA is presently at 1285 or 36.1 percent capacity.
Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 512,699 cases, 9453 deaths, 39,502 hospitalizations and 7055 ICU admits.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 9.7 percent, and in the last two weeks, it stands at 13.3 percent.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (6092 on Dec. 18); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
