PTC Dragon Boat Festival set for Sept. 28
From Special Reports
The 12th Annual Rotary Club of Peachtree City Dragon Boat Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28.
This year’s festival is back at beautiful Drake Field and Lake Peachtree. The event will feature teams from different communities and countries. New races and events will highlight the day.
Dragon boat racing is the world’s fastest growing water sport. It combines tradition with modern day teamwork, enthusiasm, and strategy. Looking for leadership and team building activities that focus on unique athletics and diversity? Dragon boating is a great way for corporations, organizations, and youth groups to get involved in a dynamic setting.
What is most exciting is the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. Dragon Boat Racing is great fun and accessible to anyone, young or old, of all abilities. Participants at any level of fitness who can sit unassisted and hold a paddle can quickly adapt to and develop a passion for this sport. No experience is required.
The Rotary Club of Peachtree City provides experienced coaches to ensure your paddling experience is safe and fun. Learn to Paddle Sessions will be held on beautiful Lake Peachtree Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and Thursdays evenings at 6 p.m. Sessions began last week and are available through mid-September. Sessions are free but donations for boat maintenance are welcome. Check the schedule on Facebook or contact 678-545-5916.
The Festival is a fantastic way to support our communities. The 2019 Charity Partners are: Piedmont Fayette Hospital Cancer Wellness Program, Real Life Center, The Eden Project and Rotary Initiatives.
If you have a desire to help these amazing nonprofits mark your calendar, attend the festival or join the festival with a team, as a sponsor or as a vendor. For more information, visit the https://www.ptcdragonboats.org.
