Wednesday: Coweta picks up 18 new cases, 2 hospitalizations

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 to go along with 2 hospitalizations and 0 deaths in Wednesday’s report. The report also indicated 162 PCR tests were confirmed in Coweta County on Wednesday with an 11.9 percent positive rate. Georgia’s positive rate is 8.8 percent. (Coweta’s daily numbers used in this story for new cases, deaths and hospitalizations are from the cumulative totals chart [below] found on the DPH website and not from specific graphs where lag times and 7-day moving averages are used).

Wednesday’s cases move the Coweta cumulative total to 2284, up from Tuesday’s sum of 2266. Other cumulative totals to date include 26 deaths and 110 hospitalizations. The death totals are likely to change after five new deaths (3 Benton House, 2 Avalon) have recently been included in the daily Long-Term Care Facility Report (listed below).

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Today in Georgia, there were 1,916 new cases of COVID-19, 62 deaths, 178 hospitalizations and 51 ICU admits. It’s the 18th straight day below 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 1859 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 57 from Tuesday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 274,613 cases, 5795 deaths, 25,025 hospitalizations and 4588 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
