Saturday: Coweta confirms 62 new cases, 2 hospitalizations

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Saturday, Aug. 15.
For the second day in a row, Coweta County confirmed more than 60 new cases of COVID-19. Saturday’s total was 62, just 1 shy of the single-day high set on Friday of 63. There were 2 hospitalizations recorded today but no deaths.
The 62 cases is the 26th consecutive day Coweta has seen double-digit cases. For just this week, Coweta has posted 265 cases or an average of 37.8 per day.
Cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 1750 cases, 26 deaths and 106 hospitalizations.
Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (63 on Aug. 14); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Statewide today, Georgia confirmed 3,273 cases, an increase of 46 from yesterday. Georgia posted 96 deaths (3rd-highest single day total), 210 hospitalizations and 43 ICU admits. It’s the 40th consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.
Presently, there are 2586 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19, which is a decrease of 105 from Friday.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 235,168 cumulative cases, 4669 deaths, 22,028 hospitalizations and 4042 ICU admits.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
